How do I get involved with FLL Jr.?
In addition to being a team member, there are many ways to get involved with FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. in both official and unofficial capacities. Whether you have played with LEGO elements your whole life or even if you have never heard of them, you can help! FLL Jr.® presents the perfect opportunity to get the whole family involved too. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and others can all take an active role in this exciting program.
What does it mean to Coach?
The coach is a critical element of the team. The coach guides the team through the season by facilitating discussion and encouraging problem solving. No technical background is required to be a coach, just a willingness to learn with the children. The coach is the main point of contact and is responsible for disseminating all information to the team.
Registered teams will have access to the Coaches’ Guide. This contains helpful information to run a successful season. Sample schedules, as well as icebreaker and team-building activities are included to help coaches get started.
How do I mentor a team?
Mentoring is another crucial role. Although it is not completely necessary for a team to have a Mentor, Mentors can provide guidance in an area of expertise that greatly benefits the team. In addition to adults, older siblings and cousins can make great Mentors for teams! Mentors do not necessarily have to be present at every meeting; they can be used just as a resource.
How do I become a sponsor?
There are multiple ways to sponsor FLL Jr. You can sponsor a local team, a local event, or the overall program. Sponsorship can be monetary or material – donations of food or equipment or meeting/event space help teams have a positive experience.
How do I volunteer?
Event volunteers are needed to make events run smoothly. Volunteer positions can include crowd control, event registration, emceeing, and much more! Volunteers can also directly work with a team and help out at meetings. Milwaukee FLL Jr. Expo is on [wbcr_php_snippet id=”1748″] and Madison FLL Jr. Expo is on [wbcr_php_snippet id=”1750″].
